Welcome to the website of full-time Professional Disc Jockey, John Forbes. Expectations

I work directly for my customers and not through venues.  Many places take commission for hiring a DJ and they only hire the cheapest operator to increase their profits.  However, this hasn't stopped me working in in many of the premier venues in the North East of England as I have been hired directly by the function organiser who values quality over price.

I work very closely with all my customers and I have a personal policy of not just meeting their expectations, but trying to exceed them.  From first contact through to the performance, I always act as a true professional to make your event a success.

Pro Dub Licensed DJ

I have £10m of Public Liability Insurance and my equipment has been tested for electrical safety (PAT test).  These are two requirements that venues may insist upon seeing before they will permit a DJ or other entertainer to work on their grounds.  I am also one of the few DJs based in the North East of England to hold a Professional Dubbing License from the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society and Performing Rights Society (MCPS-PRS Alliance).

For almost six years, I was the Resident DJ at Headlam Hall Hotel, but after such a long period tied to one venue, I decided to go back to being an Independent Professional DJ.  I wanted the couples or event organisers to be my customers and not just the clients of the hotel I was seconded to.

NADJ Committee Member

I have a high attention to detail and am working with the National Association of Disc Jockeys to help raise the profile and standards of DJs across the UK.  In May 2009 I was asked to become the Membership Officer and become a part of the Committee for the NADJ.

There are many accreditation schemes running in the UK, but many of them are simply directory listing sites.  The schemes do not generally represent the true level of professionalism, experience and reliability that a DJ may or may not have.  Until there is a true test to find out the quality of a Professional Mobile DJ, customers should really speak to the DJ and ask questions about their service.  If the only question you have is 'How much is a disco,' you really need to look further into what you want.

A Professional DJ who works Full-Time in their chosen career will be able to deal with your enquiry and preparations for the special occasion.  If you just want a 'Beer Money DJ' you really are leaving the success of your event on someone who may not care whether or not you and your guests have a great time.  I put all of my efforts into every event I undertake.  I treat every guest as though they are a potential customer and that it is my job to make sure they enjoy celebrating your event.
