Hiring the right Wedding DJ for your your special day is is one of the most overlooked parts of the whole Wedding Day experience. Weddings are all about memories and making dreams and expectations come true. I specialise in tailoring the entertainment at Weddings Receptions, Civil Ceremonies or Civil Partnerships to the needs of my customers. Perfection is a standard that is so difficult to achieve, but it is the standard I aim for.
Couples can spend hundreds of hours making sure everything is just right for the special day. Planning usually starts off with finding a church, registry office or venue for their ceremony. They then pick the place that they want to hold their celebrations and the next thing on this list is booking the service providers who need to be there on the big day. So, you have the likes of the photographer, wedding car supplier or chauffeur, hairdresser and flower arranger all booked up well in advance. After all, they can only be in one place at a time and you need to get the people you feel confident in, hired as soon as possible.
One item missing from that list is the entertainment and couples usually leave this to the last minute and that can often lead to disappointment. Many of the professional and recommended entertainers are booked well in advance, leaving you to sift through all the suppliers to find someone who you have the trust in for your special day.
A Lifetime of Memories
Weddings are the epitome of family celebrations. Your Wedding will be celebrated and a lifetime of memories will be created in one single day by you, your family and your friends. So, ask yourself these questions:
Would you hire your friend or neighbour to capture those all-important events on film?
Would you book a taxi to transport you around on the big day?
Would you use the services of an unqualified hairdresser?
Would you rely on someone to grow your flowers in their garden and make sure they are ready for the big day?
I guess the answer in all four questions is a resounding 'NO.' However, now ask yourself this question:
Would you hire a friend of a friend to provide the entertainment at your Wedding Reception?
You'd be surprised at how many people would hire any Mobile Disco for their Wedding Reception. After all, all DJs are the same, aren't they?
More Than Just Lights and Music
A Professional Wedding DJ is more than just lights and music, it is someone who is experienced and who wants to play an active part in making your day special and memorable. There are many Mobile Disco suppliers in the Yellow Pages or Thompson directories and many people will book on price alone, believing that they will get the same thing no matter how much or how little they pay. I mainly work for more discerning customers who value a high level of service over price. I'm not elitist or arrogant, but my main source of work in the Wedding market is from customers who value the efforts I put into their event. They are clients who expect more and when they hire me, they soon realise that is what they are going to get.
I can be there for the whole day or I can be hired for the evening celebrations, but each event is unique and tailored to the needs of my customers. Any DJ offering a one-size fits all package isn't providing a bespoke service. If they have a standard price and they have not found out what your wishes are, they are probably not interested in tailoring their service to your exact requirements. A standard price from a supplier usually means a standard level of service.
In Demand
People who are involved in the entertainment industry primarily work on a Friday or Saturday night and this restricts the number of times they can be hired throughout the year. I've had many customers contact me to ask about availability, only to find that I am fully booked - they seem bemused that there is very limited availability throughout the peak times and the best DJs are in demand.
I have a wealth of experience of playing an important, but sometimes invisible part, in entertaining guests on such an important day. The most vital part of my job as a specialist Wedding DJ is to listen to your needs. All of my customers have different dreams and expectations for their special day. Where possible, I include the opportunity to meet with every Bride and Groom before their big day and I pride myself on close working relations with my customers. I will also introduce myself to the staff at your chosen venue and provide them with my contact details and any documents they require (PAT, PLI and Pro Dub License). I am more than just a 'turn up and play' Mobile Disco and the majority of my clients expect a higher level of service and professionalism for their Wedding Day and this is what I aim to deliver.
Entertainment
I have found that many couples want to play an active role in the preparation and administration of the entertainment for their special day. Each couple has decided on where and when to get married, the venue, the menu and who they invite. So, why shouldn't they have an active part in the evening celebrations?
Each event is unique and my wealth of experience and professionalism has helped many couples plan the entertainment to perfection for their Wedding Day. As a full-time Professional Wedding DJ, I can devote more of my time to preparing for your Wedding and I always feel that the more preparation that goes into an event, the more likely it will be a success and be remembered by you and your guests.
Each wedding reception I perform at is unique and individually tailored to the needs of my customers. For example, I can provide background music during the Wedding Breakfast and and cordless microphones for speeches. I also offer Mood Lighting for clients who want to change the colour scheme of the venue without redecorating. The options are almost endless, but you will never find me using 'hard sell' tactics with my clients.
Personalise
Some of my customers want an intimate wedding reception and others want something on a much grander scale. Whatever style of Wedding Reception you have in mind, I am flexible, experienced and I have the skills to personalise your event and make it unique. I have a very high attention to detail and go out of my way to make sure the needs of my customer are in place.
I was the Resident DJ at one of the North East's premier venues for weddings, Headlam Hall Hotel. For almost six years, I played an active part in being the DJ and compere for the evening celebrations. Although I was only a small part of the Wedding package offered by the hotel, I believe that I was instrumental in the excellent reputation and increasing number of people who booked the hotel for their Wedding Reception.
However, I decided that I needed to move on and meet the challenges of going back to being an Independent Professional DJ. It also meant that I could now expand on the services I offer and also offer my customers a much higher level of professionalism before their Wedding Day.
Support
My advice to all potential customers is to only book someone who can provide you with help and support on the run up to your Wedding Day and someone you can trust to provide what you want. Some people also book service providers on price alone and unfortunately when they do this, people will see where the budget has been cut.
I've seen clients who have initially been willing to spend more money on table decorations and candles than they are on the entertainment for their special event. Which part of the Wedding Day experience will be remembered - the candles or the entertainment that takes up a substantial part of the day?
There is also a very good reason for the old adage behind 'you get what you pay for.'
Professional
I offer a professional, reliable and quality service to all of my customers. These are not usually the traits that many people have of the stereotypical mobile disco. However, I am not your stereotypical mobile disco and I always aim to exceed the expectations of my customers.
Over the years I have received many gifts, cards and messages thanking me for making their wedding day such a wonderful and joyous event. I am highly respected in this line of work and am personally recommended by many venue managers, other Wedding specialists and fellow entertainers.
Some DJs will try to sell you their service based on the number of lights they have or how big their speakers are. I know that many of my clients are more interested in the professionalism, presentation and reliability I can bring to their event.
High Quality
I will only bring the equipment that is necessary to conduct my duties and each setup is appropriate for the the event. If you want more involvement with the equipment I use, I will listen to your needs and act on them, but I only use professional grade equipment that is reliable and of a high quality.
I have worked in some of the most prestigious and quality venues in the North East of England. I will travel throughout the North East, including: Durham, Darlington, Teesside, Northumberland, North Yorkshire, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Sunderland and many other surrounding towns and villages.
I can work further afield and will be able to quote for your event if it is outside of my normal working area.
